Capital District Interurbans

Maps and Details on the Interurbans Systems in New York

SRC TrolleyWhereas most of the other upstate New York cities have detailed Wikipedia pages detailing the history of local interurban transport, surprisingly Wikipedia has very little info on the Capital District trolleys. Fortunately, a few local historians and railroad buffs have posted quite amount of info to fill the void!

The Capital District area had a colorful and vibrant history of streetcars and interurbans and was criss-crossed by a large bustling interconnected interurban system. At is peak, there where 100s of miles of track built, wired exclusively for electric trolleys that served the area's growing transportation needs.
