The large ever-present mudhole on the white trail at the south end of the grassy area has been a persistent issue. Standing water up to 4 inches deep accumulates here, even thru the summer.

An essential first step is to create better drainage. Since it so low, there will always be water here but draining it off quicker will minimize the width of the water covering the trail and allow the trail itself to dry and harden quicker.

Minor Fix With Trench
On October 16th, 2010, the TTC crew trekked on down the White Trail with tools and buckets in hand to fix this spot. We started by digging a fairly deep trench for water run-off. Fortunately the ground was soft from previous days' rain and the digging was easy. Water immediately rushed down the trench and the still standing puddle (usually a small lake!) was quickly drained.
We then armored the eastern side of the trail with flat rocks and filled in the western side of the trail with rounded and jagged rocks to "encourage" riders to stay east. (NOTE: Armoring did not hold up > PICs removed from page)

A Frozen Lake - Ice, Ice, Everywhere
December 18th, 2010 - Apparently a lot of rain fell last week - the basin had now turned into a small frozen lake! The trail was a complete iced-over mess still crying out for further drainage. The ground was frozen solid and the ice was a few inches thick making it impossible to do anything in this area.
