Westerly Rhode Island Interurbans
Maps and Details on the Interurbans Systems in New England
As the map below indicates, the Westerly area of Rhode Island was tied closely with eastern Connecticut. The Norwich and Westerly Railway was an interurban trolley system that operated in Southeastern Connecticut during the early part of the 20th century and connected to Westerly and the Rhode Island shore line resorts. It operated a 21-mile line through rural territory in both Connecticut and Rhode Island between 1906 and 1922. In 1913 it was acquired by the Shore Line Electric Railway.
