Westchester County Interurbans

Maps and Details on the Interurbans Systems in New York

3rd Ave TrolleyMuch of lower Westchester County’s interurban systems were extensions of the burgeoning New York City Streetcar and Subway system. The dominant company in the area by 1924 was the Third Avenue Railway which had acquired many of the smaller streetcar lines.

The New York, Westchester and Boston Railway (1912 to 1937) ran from the southernmost part of the South Bronx to Mount Vernon with branches both north to White Plains and east to Port Chester.
